General and appearance#

General → Preferences contains interface language and automatic compaction. Runs configures retries and queued-message behavior. Versions lists installed components and update actions.
Appearance → Look controls theme and text presentation. Transcript controls the display of thinking, tool output, and per-turn usage. These are display settings, separate from model capability or context limits.

Models and connections#

Chat models sets defaults for new threads, the pinned model set, and catalog selection. Existing threads retain their selected model unless it is changed in that thread.
Local models manages model files, Hugging Face downloads, engine discovery, and llama-swap configuration. It uses the existing llama-swap service rather than starting a private runtime.
Providers handles authentication and connections, including LiteLLM discovery. See Models and Local models.

Extensions and skills#

Extensions → Packages manages installed packages and opens the package browser. Local files lists extensions and prompt templates outside that package list.
Extensions with Packages and Local files tabs.
Extensions with Packages and Local files tabs.
Skills → Library lists skills, learned records, and composer actions. Commands controls skill-command registration.
Skills library.
Skills library.
Installation, scope, and composer selection are described in Skills and packages.

MCP and project configuration#

MCP servers → Servers manages server connections and tools. Configuration provides access to user/project MCP files.
Projects → Folders lists projects. Open a project for its trust, placement, worktree, and setup-script options. Defaults applies when a project has no override. Scores are available when the corresponding integration is installed.

Attendant, voice, and shortcuts#

Attendant configures the background model, automation, budget, project scope, and activity history. Its model selection is separate from the foreground thread.
Voice configures the speech model and dictation behavior, including whether recognized text is inserted or sent. Speech-model download and microphone use are separate actions.
Keybindings separates application shortcuts from pi's terminal bindings. Filters locate actions; conflicts are flagged. Export/import transfers custom bindings.

Advanced and saving#

Use Advanced → Diagnostics for version/runtime information and diagnostic output. Security contains credential-store/database controls; Privacy contains redaction; Runtime contains runtime/developer options; Trust contains saved trust decisions.
Most controls apply their own changes. File edits, installs, and disruptive operations use explicit actions or confirmation. A reload banner indicates when a session/resource reload is required. Errors and disabled controls describe conditions that prevent a change from taking effect.
